The Museum of the Highwood is located at 406 First Street SW in downtown High River, Alberta. The former CPR station has been completely and beautifully restored.
You are invited to visit us and enjoy a guided tour or browse around on your own. The museum is proud to present rotating exhibits that celebrate the history of the Highwood Region and Southern Alberta.
Our Imagination Station features fun and educational activities for kids and their “helpers”. Dress up in our pioneer playhouse, do business at the High River Trading Company and experience what school was like for pioneer children at the Tongue Creek School. The tea table is set, and there is always something new to discover.
We offer both in-house and outreach programs and special events for all ages. Programs may be tailored to meet the needs of your group. Walking tours of downtown High River are available by request. Please call the museum for more information at 403-652-7156 or visit our website at www.museumofthehighwood.com
The Museum of the Highwood has over 18,000 photographs of High River and the surrounding area in its distinguished collection, which spans over the last 125 years. Research services are offered at the museum, by phone or e-mail.
