Increase in Sun, Increase in Fun
Every year, as the temperature increase, so does the number of opportunities to have some sunny fun in Lethbridge.
The warmer weather signals that summer vacations are near and so are your first chances of the year to interact with a learn about various owls at Alberta Birds of Prey Centre. Get outside and get up close and personal with one of these friendly birds while they put their flying finesse on display.
Take in some culture at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, where you can decorate a folding fan, practice yoga in the garden, try on some traditional kimonos or just walk about and enjoy the scenery. As you walk along the paths, keep a lookout for a heart shaped rock known as a Japanese Love stone – word on the street is if you jump on it three times, you’ll be lucky in love!
Fort Whoop-Up lets you walk through history and experience what life was like in the days of whiskey trading. The interactive exhibits allow you to truly immerse yourself in the history of the Fort.
Then, towards the end of the season, everyone gathers for one last sweaty, happy, sunshiny hurrah at Whoop-Up Days. The kids (and kids at heart) love the midway, artisans appreciate the opportunity to show off their goods at the trade show, and everyone basks in the chance to hear live music, taste new foods and spend the days surrounded with friends, family and community.
