Highway 2 is a busy stretch of road, and most everyone that travels it has made a pit stop in Claresholm at one time or another. Located almost halfway between Calgary and Lethbridge, the town of Claresholm is the perfect place to pull over for fuel and a quick bite to eat. But the convenience of Claresholm is only one of this town’s many virtues.
If you venture just a little way off the well-beaten path of Highway 2, you’ll quickly discover that Claresholm is a vibrant community with a lot of wonderful amenities, both indoors and out. It also has a rather illustrious history, tied closely to the success of western allies during World War II. Claresholm was the site of a service flying training school, where close to 2,000 pilots earned their wings.
With golden wheatlands to the east and the picturesque Porcupine Hills to the west, Claresholm is at the centre of some of southern Alberta’s most beautiful scenery – and people here love to get outside and enjoy it. Clear Lake, Willow Creek Provincial Park and Chain Lakes Provincial Park are just a few of the lovely spots around Claresholm that uplift the spirit and soothe the soul.
