If you imagine a place that has all of the things that make southern Alberta special, the mountains, the foothills, the prairie, outdoor activity, a strong sense of community, friendly people with can-do attitudes – if you can imagine all of that, then you’ve got a picture in mind of the town of Okotoks.
Okotoks is a young and vibrant community that is 25,000 residents strong. People chose to live in Okotoks because it has everything the big cities have to offer all wrapped up in a quiet and cheerful town. People visit Okotoks for the same reasons – it’s a springboard for all sorts of great Alberta experiences, and all the day-to-day things you need are close at hand.
There are many special events held in Okotoks each year, but the spontaneous adventurer will want to delve into the town’s many great features and amenities. Fly fishing is a popular sport in this part of the world, and anglers from all over come to cast their lines in the Sheep River, which runs right through town. There is over 50 km of interconnected pathway winding through some of Okotoks most picturesque places. You’ll find great trails for biking, walking, and jogging all over town. Indoors, visitors can enjoy the quiet serenity of the Okotoks Museum and Archives, the Okotoks Art Gallery, or the many splendid boutiques, shops and restaurants in the community’s pretty downtown.
