Castle Mountain Resort
Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada
Reaching the top of Tamarack Chair, you push yourself off the lift and glide effortlessly down the embankment toward the face of the mountain. Is this the fifth run of the day? The eighth? The fourteenth? You can’t remember and it doesn’t matter, because whenever you stand at the summit of this spectacular ski hill it feels like you’re standing there for the very first time. You get the same rush of adrenaline knowing that the moment you point the tips of your skis in the direction of the base and lean in to position, you’ll be off on a self-propelled thrill ride that pushes your physical abilities and invigorates all of your senses. And you’re always filled with the same sense of awe and wonder whenever you gaze out at the indescribably gorgeous view from this vantage point – an overwhelming display of Mother Nature’s finest work covered in a blanket of glimmering white powder.
Castle Mountain is called The Small Big Resort for good reason. With 3,500 skiable acres on two mountains, more than 100 trails (including extraordinary CAT skiing), 8 alpine bowls, and 3 terrain parks, Castle Mountain offers enough territory to satisfy the most avid skiers. Still, this gem of a ski hill feels quiet and private – a comparative oasis on the map of Alberta downhill destinations. With an average annual snowfall of 358 inches, and easy access to all the food, lodging and entertainment in the Crowsnest Pass, Castle Mountain is southwest Alberta’s secret ski haven.
